Plants in Tatarstan

The Ford Sollers plant in Elabuga (The Republic of Tatarstan) produced more than 18,000 vehicles in 2012. The majority of them were Ford Transits. The plant also produces Ford Kuga crossover, the Ford S-MAX and Galaxy minivans and the Ford Explorer SUV (full production, including painting, welding and assembling).

The enterprise is located in the Alabuga free economic zone. Shops with an area of more than 200,000 square metres are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment enabling up to 85,000 cars per year to be produced. As of March 2013, the number of employees at Ford Sollers in Elabuga was 2,000, and rising as production continues to increase.

The second production site of Ford Sollers in Tatarstan is located in Naberezhnye Chelny. The equipment at this plant is being updated to prepare for production in 2014.

Ford Sollers starts to build a $274 million engine plant in Elabuga, Tatarstan. At 42,600 square meters, the facility will be approximately the size of six football fields.

The Ford Sollers Elabuga Engine Plant will have an annual capacity of up to 105,000 units, with the possibility for further expansion of up to 200,000 engines a year. At least 30 per cent of Russian-built Ford vehicles will be equipped with these engines.

The plant will build three versions of the 1.6-litre, normally-aspirated Duratec gasoline engine in 85 PS, 105 PS and 125 PS power levels. Lightweight, durable, economical and with low noise and emissions, the Duratec was the first Ford engine with block, cylinder head, crankcase and pistons all made of aluminium.
